This is a 1960 contract USAF L2-B flight jacket. It is a size SMALL. 1960 contract jacket, but is an eclectic mix of 1960s and 1950s. The L2-B is a flight jacket developed for pilots of fighter aircraft flying at low altitudes, known as the light zone. The L2-B was originally an A-2 flight jacket from the WWII era. The L2-B was then adopted after the L-2 and L2-A, and was used from the 1950s until the mid-1970s. The L2-B was used from the 1950s until the mid-1970s, after which the CWU-36P and others followed. Originally developed as a flight jacket for U.S. Air Force pilots, it was also used by Army helicopter pilots as well as Air Force pilots during the Vietnam War, and was a flight jacket that played an active role across branches. Unlike the MA-1 of the same model, this jacket is lightweight and is not intended for use at temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, so we recommend that you wear it inside if you plan to wear it in cold weather. This jacket has an Air Force air force patch sewn on it, with the name and rank insignia sewn on. The organization is the 17th Air Force, one of the air forces of the U.S. Air Force, which was mainly deployed to Europe; since the 1950s, the air force was stationed at Ramstein Air Base in West Germany, and was active in peacekeeping throughout Europe.The 17th Air Force was disbanded in 1996 with the end of the Cold War.
