This is a Tiger Stripe shirt from the Okinawa Tiger Pattern, used around the mid-1960s, with Asian cut, one-button chest, no arm bandage pockets, identical to the pattern also known as JWD or John Wayne.
Along with the Silver Tiger pattern, the Okinawa Tiger pattern is available in many color variations and lots, and has many differences, including mainland sewing and Okinawan sewing. The Tiger Stripe pattern has been used since relatively early times, and many American advisors and local soldiers can be seen wearing this pattern in old photos from CIDG and other sources.
This shirt is unused from that time. The size tag is missing, but it is believed to have been a Japanese tag with red letters on a white background. The number of buttons used is reduced compared to the US cut, and the famous bandage pockets shown above are not present. The color remains clean and there is no fading or tanning, and it is assumed that this shirt was issued to an American due to its relatively large size among Asian cuts. The name of the American is handwritten on it. The Tiger shirt is in excellent condition as it was at the time. Although it is an unused item, we will treat it as a used item. Please note that it is non-returnable.
