The MACV SOG is divided into three regions: CCN (COMMAND CONTROL NORTH), CCC (COMMAND CONTROL CENTRAL NORTH), and MACV SOG (COMMAND CONTROL NORTH), The MACV SOGs are divided into three major regional groups: CCN (COMMAND CONTROL NORTH), CCC (COMMAND CONTROL CENTRAL), and CCS (COMMAND CONTROL SOUTH).

The members of the MACV SOG were divided into recon teams (RT, reconnaissance teams), each of which was named after an American state or local place, and each team produced its own patch, which was sewn onto the uniform or onto a boonie hat that was procured independently.
