This is an actual U.S. Navy G-1 flight jacket from a 1960s lot. Size and other tags are missing and exact regulation size is unknown. Estimated size 42. This is a slightly larger size flight jacket. It appears to be a pilot who moved from base to base in the U.S. It has multiple commemorative patches sewn on it. The Navy's G-1 was developed in the 1930s and was a flight jacket worn mainly by fighter pilots in the Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Navy, and began to be used in earnest in the 1940s, with the rival A-2 of the U.S. Army Air Corps also active during that time. It is a leather flight jacket with a long history, having been used until the 1970s. The Army was involved in the development of this jacket, but as a result, it was used by the Navy and Marine Corps. It was officially adopted again in 1984 due to high demand.
This G-1 flight jacket is a very popular size with an estimated size of 42, and the leather has been kept in very good condition with little hardening or deterioration. It has patches sewn on it from the base and training team to which it once belonged, all of which were first attached. Although we cannot be sure, some of the patches are from the U.S. Marine Corps, so there is a possibility that they belong to Marine pilots or soldiers who transferred to the Navy during their service. The quality of each patch is different, and the differences are enjoyable. Unlike other branches, the Navy has looser regulations on flight jackets, and many of the flight jackets are highly individualized, with patches and illustrations applied by individual pilots. This one is one of them and has a great atmosphere with a high level of fashion. The zipper is open in the photo, but it is movable. The zipper is movable, and although the movement is a little sluggish, it can be opened and closed without any problem. The zipper is made of SCOVILL brass. The boa has little wear and is still a very serviceable jacket. This is a flight jacket for fighter pilots who fly at low altitudes, so this leather jacket is mainly used in spring and fall. In winter, you will need to dress it up as it may lack warmth. In that sense, a larger flight jacket is a good option. This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
