This 1963 contract U.S. Navy WEP (G-9) flight jacket is a nylon jacket that was used as a flight jacket by the U.S. Navy from the 1950s to the mid-1970s. The U.S. Navy has a looser dress code than the Air Force and Army, and the culture of attaching many individually procured patches and other items to issued flight jackets is tolerated. In the case of the Air Force, the team procurement of patches such as combat squadrons and the like has been the style since WWII, but in the case of the Navy, there are many patches for various branches of service, aircraft carriers, fighter units, etc., and there are many examples of people wearing a single flight jacket with these patches attached according to their own military history. The "Top Gun" patch is a popular patch for the military. The G-1 that appeared in the movie "Top Gun" is one such example, and there are many flight jackets worn by Navy pilots and others that have been decorated with wonderful patches up to the present day.

This WEP jacket was contracted in 1963 during the VN War and is a medium size 40-Regular with a USS Enterprise patch and a squadron patch sewn on. The name is Rear Admiral H.L. Miller, but this is an actual Rear Admiral. The condition of the jacket and the patch are about the same, so there is no discrepancy between the jacket and the patch. The jacket itself is in good condition with some corrosion on the zipper and some stains. The zipper works fine. The jacket is in used condition, but can still be enjoyed by taking care of it. It is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
