Introduced in 1965, the M-65 field jacket remains immensely popular today as the definitive version of the U.S. military field jacket. This particular item is from the 1967 contract’s “2nd Model”—an early production run manufactured and used in the midst of the Vietnam War.

The M-65 was developed based on experience gained from the earlier M-1943 and M-1951 models and features cotton-nylon satin (OG-107), which offers excellent wind resistance and durability.Featuring a stowable hood in the collar and the versatility to accommodate a liner, its high functionality has had a significant influence on militaries and outdoor apparel around the world for many years. This item is Contract No. DSA-100-67-C-4540, manufactured in 1967. Produced by So-Sew Styles Inc., it is an early version of the 2nd Model delivered during the Vietnam War.

The Sixth U.S. Army shoulder sleeve insignia is sewn onto the left shoulder.This patch features a white six-pointed star on a green background, with a red “A” in the center; the “six-pointed star” represents the 6th Army, and the “A” stands for “Army.”The Sixth Army saw action on the Pacific front during World War II and, after the war, served as the primary command overseeing the western United States.

Furthermore, rank insignia indicating Private First Class (PFC) remain on both sleeves. Judging by the stitching and signs of aging, these patches are highly likely to be the originals worn at the time, making them a fascinating detail that evokes the history of a soldier who actually wore them.

The condition is “Used.” Signs of wear and dirt are visible throughout, and the sleeves show damage and holes from actual use.
