This is a U.S. Army tanker jacket used around the 1970s to 1980s. The basic concept has not changed from the tankers of the WWII era, and it is assumed to have been worn not only by tankers but also by soldiers in fire hazardous positions. The material is NOMEX and flame retardant. It is made to prevent burns from chemical fibers and other substances when exposed to flames in tank fires. This is the same material worn by helicopter pilots and others during the same period. Although it shows signs of use, the ribs are clean and in good condition. The length is relatively short because it is designed to be used seated, like a flight jacket. This is a great jacket that is easy to use. This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
