This is a U.S. Army tanker jacket contracted in 1991. The basic concept has not changed from the tankers of the WWII era, and it is assumed that it was worn not only by tankers but also by soldiers in fire hazard affiliations. The material is ARAMID material that has evolved from NOMEX and is flame retardant. It is designed to prevent burns from chemical fibers and other materials when exposed to flames in tank fires. This material is similar to that worn by helicopter pilots during the same period. Although it shows signs of use, the ribs are clean and in good condition. The length is relatively short because it is designed to be used seated, like a flight jacket. This is a great jacket that is easy to use. This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
