MACV SOG stands for MILITARY ASSISTANCE COMMANDO VIETNAM STUDIE AND OBSERVATION GROUP, and from the meaning of the name, it sounds like an organization for the purpose of education of observation, but in reality, it was an organization engaged in shadowy operations such as cross-border operations, kidnapping, assassination, and other operations that could not be conducted in public. In reality, however, it was an organization engaged in shadowy operations such as cross-border operations, kidnappings, assassinations, and other operations that could not be conducted publicly, known as BLACK OPS. Although most of the organization's activities were not open to the public, information has been released little by little, and in recent years, it has become well known to many fans who are fascinated by its history.

Soldiers who participated in the MACV SOG were given these plaques by their units to commemorate their service. Many of these plaques were produced in Saigon and Taipei. These plaques are very rare.
