We are pleased to present an Okinawan Tiger shirt with the distinctive TO78 stamp, said to have been manufactured in the late 1970s. The pattern is very similar to the Silver Tiger, and this piece is also known as TDD by some collectors. There is a later lot that is presumed to have been manufactured in Taiwan, but this shirt with the TO78 stamp is believed to have been made in Okinawa. The overall color is faded to white, but the slightly bright green color is very distinctive. There is an L-shaped repair on the back and back collar. There are no missing buttons. It is in used condition. Occasionally this pattern is found in dead stock condition and may still have the paper tag with the contract number. There is also uncertainty as to how this pattern was used during the Vietnam War. There are stories that it was used by some USN boat patrol teams, but we have rarely seen US cuts in this fabric in large sizes, and there is much mystery regarding its operation. This is a pattern that many people like because of its distinctive color and the fact that it was probably the last lot made in Japan. This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
